If our hands are busy with handcrafts such as knitting or crocheting, it keeps us from other temptations such as chips, chocolate or the next cigarette. Knitting involves regions of the brain in which the feeling of hunger and craving is located and can therefore suppress hunger-inducing impulses. In addition, manual work even burns calories - one hour of active knitting while sitting burns approx. 110 calories.
